First Thought When Told You Were Pregnant?
Olivia_WebMD_Staff posted:
Hi there folks!

Let's get the pregnancy talk rolling in here.

Share what your VERY first thought was when you found out you really were pregnant.

I'll start.

When I found out I was pregnant with my first daughter my first thought was, "OMG, I just started a brand new job. What will I tell my boss?"

My first thought was " seriously?!?! my little sister was right?? " my little sister is 2 and when my husband and I went to my family's hosue for thanksgiving she had walked up to me and said I had a baby in my tummy... a week and half later I took an EPT and right away I got my BFP

What a great question!

I had been married many years, unable to get pregnant, no longer trying and always had normal periods.

So, at age 40 when I missed a period I thought, "Crud, I'm going through menopause!" Little did I know I was pregnant.

After feeling differently weird for awhile, I took a pregnancy test - I felt cautiously excited and scared.

I was in shock, I don't remember what I thought!

Excited for both of them. DH and I had been trying for some time and I even had surgery to remove several fibroids. The first month after the surgery we were given the okay to start trying we got lucky. I took the test at 6a and called DH who was on his way to work and said "Hi daddy." He knew what that meant.

With my second, I woke DH (I took it at 5:30a) and showed him the test.

My thought was "I knew it!" lol. I never get heartburn or atleast very very rarely and I had heartburn for a week and then tested and sure enough those pretty two lines showed up. I was excited and super scared (I didn't even tell DH for two weeks because I wanted to make sure i wouldn't m/c again. woulda waited 3 weeks till his bday but he found out on accident).

Great question!!

8 years ago when I found out I was pregnant with my DD: The Dr office called me, then I went in the bathroom and cried. I was 20 years old just married and not at all ready to be a mom. Now, I know it was the best thing that ever happened to me

With this pregnancy, after almost 2 yrs of trying, getting that positive test also sent me into tears. But great happy tears of joy.

When I found out I was pregnant with my son, I was in shock and disbelief. I remember running out of the restroom and showing my DH the test. I was in tears! I was so happy. We had been trying for yrs and just never thought I would get pregnant. I was only 3 days late and had a test on hand and thought, 'what the hell,. I'll just take the test to just see - I was so sure it was going to be negative...This was on Thanksgiving day 2010 - I think I took a HPT about 10 times to make sure, I told everyone that say day I was expecting!!

For this pregnancy, I found out at work. My friend was doing IVF and she was in the process of taking the meds and getting ready to be implanted. I thought I was just feeling 'symphony' pains because of what she was going through. I was late on my period but thought b/c I just had a baby 8wks ago, I my cycle was off a bit. So, on my lunch, I got a test just to ease my mind about being pregnant. I took the test and I saw the 2 pink lines come up right away! I cant remember walking from the restroom to my desk because I was in such shock. I actually cried a little just because I had a 2 month at home.

But after the shock, I so was excited!!! Not only was I blessed with 1 beautiful child, I get to have another. Its still kind of scary knowing that they will only be 11 months 11days apart, but I couldn't be happier!!!! I have a little boy and now have a little girl on the way. LIFE IS GOOD!!!
