Pregnancy After Depo Shot
avatar
TayStevie posted:
Hey, I've been on the Depo Shot for about a year now off and on.
I've currently been using it for the past 6 months. The shot is due
again on May 12th-26th, however, my fiancee and I wish to conceive.
After reading online other women's experiences, I am a little
discouraged. Any tips or ideas to greater our chances?

Unfortunately, there really isn't anything you can do to speed things up. It can take up to a year and in rare cases 18 months for your periods to return to normal.

I think it all depends on ur body.. I got pregnant with my daughter while on the depo shot, and pregnant with my son a month after i had stopped the depo... So in my opinion it all depends on ur body!!! Everyone is different.. GOOD LUCK!! I HOPE IT WORKS OUT FOR U!!!

I personally took over a year to get my cycle back after stopping the Depo and I only had received one injection, gained over 40 lbs and said no thanks you.. my friend has not had a cycle in over 3 years after stopping the Depo

I was on the depo shot for 21 months. No adverse side effects, no weight gain or anything. After I went off Depo it look 12 months (from the date of my last shot) to get a regular cycle again. It then took another 6 months before I got pregnant. So my only advice is patience... I was told it would take 12-18 months to get pregnant so I went off the shot 12 months before we wanted to start trying. I am now 5 weeks. Good Luck!!

I stopped depo on January 19th of this year. Got a period 2 days later, and have been on a 49 day menstrual cycle ever since. I had my period May 4 and am not due again until June 22nd, but found out this past Sunday that I am pregnant (have some issues going on, but most definitively pregnant...or was...we'll see) Anyway, case in point being that it all depends, my cycle isn't even normal compared to what it used to be and it took me about 5 months after stopping. So just try, start keeping track and figure out how long your cycle is, but don't count on it to figure out if you are ovulating or not. My recommendation have a lot of sexual intercourse, and don't count on it to happen as you will just stress.
