    I was diagnosed early with GD and told I could only eat a limited amount of carbs for eat meal. I'm trying to do the best I can but I end up going hungry because most foods have alot of carbs. Even with exercise my blood sugars are all over the place.

    Does anyone have any good receipes that are quick and easy and doesn't have a lot of carbs. Or know of a good website with some good receipes?

    I had GD during my 1st pregnancy. Have you seen a nutritionist to find out how many carbs you can have at each meal/snack? I found out I had GD 2 weeks before I could see a nutritionist and I wasn't actually eating enough carbs during those 2 weeks. I was getting so sick of salads so I know how you feel!

    I ate a lot of meat after the diagnosis - chicken, beef, etc. - since it had very little carbs. I ate taco salads, stir-fry chicken and veggies with just a little bit of rice, and we ended up eating a lot of fast food (McDonalds, Chic-fil-a) since I could easily see how many carbs were in the meal. I'm not sure that was exactly the healthiest option but my blood sugar stayed under control and I actually lost a few pounds since I'd cut out so many carbs (which typically is most of my diet.) It just seemed like my favorites - pasta and mexican food - were out. But once you look up the carbs for the meals you'll be surprised. I could eat lasagna and salad at Olive Garden (no breadsticks though), taco salads at restaurants and chicken nuggets and small fries at McDonald's.

    There is a diabetes cooking magazine - I can't remember the name but I got it at Walmart. It had really good recipes that even my husband liked. I would suggest trying those since it lists the carb content.

    Best of luck and hang in there! It is temporary but it just seems like the cruelest thing to tell a pregnant woman she can't eat what she's craving!

    Yes I've talked with a nutritionist and i'm only allowed 30 carbs for breakfast and lunch and for snacks and 45 carbs for dinner.

    I have been eating out a lot because it's easier and because i'm sick of having to carb count everything I make. And I don't always feel like cooking.

    I'll have to check out walmart for the diabetes cooking magazine. I need something because i'm tired of not being able to eat much.
