Although sperm count can decrease as a man gets older it's not a big factor. Several men have become fathers at your partners age or older.

Your age will make more of a difference because of the viability of your eggs. Also your risk for birth defects increases with age. It's not impossible to get pregnant at 40, many actresses have done it.
