Morning Sickness

tashanelson posted:
I am 6 weeks pregnant with my third child. With my first two i had morning sickness but it came and went, and i only had about a week or two that it stayed with me. That was the same with both. This time i am sick all day long. When i get up i feel dizzy and not long after the vomiting begins. I have tried to eat whenever i get up to see if it eases my stomach, but it does not. Its so bad for the last 4 days, 98% of everything i eat or drink comes back up. And even after my stomach is completely empty, i rush in feeling sick only to dry heave for minutes on in. Is anyone going through this, or has anyone gone through this? If anyone could give me any advice i would greatly appreciate it. From being sick so much i have no energy left at all, i would love to be able to deal with this. I have tried pepper mints and lemons, and smelling lemons or citrus. None have helped.

You need to see your doctor. If you can't eat/drink, you run the risk of becoming dehydrated. There are medications he can give you to ease the morning sickness.

I had "morning" sickness like that. It was awful, being sick all day every day. My recommendation is see your doctor, and you will likely be given some medication that will make it better. I didn't want to take any medication for my morning sickness, and I tried a lot of doctor approved home remedies, but the medicine (I was given Zofran) was the only thing that helped and it was definitely worth it.

I had morning sickness until I was about 7 1/2 months. I had to take Zofran almost every morning or I'd get the dry heaves. I always took it right after I brushed my teeth in the morning, before I had anything to eat or drink. My doctor prescribed me the 8 mg sublingual kind. That way, I could dissolve it under my tounge and not worry about throwing it back up.

The one thing about Zofran is, it can give you a headache. Even so, I'd rather take it than Phenergan, because I had to work and the Phenergan made me drowsy.

So, you have been given good advise so far. Seeing your doctor will be helpful as they can talk about different options you can do to help yourself.

There are other things you can do. I always recommend keeping saltine crackers at the bedside and eat them before you ever consider getting out of bed. I would not "get up" and get food, take it before you get out. Sometimes that helps patients.

There are pressure spots at P6 which help decrease nausea. These are located at the wrist. Some women say it helps others not. But it may be worth trying.

A drug called Bendectin was used many years ago and was taken off the market. It was a good medication for prevention of naseau and vomiting. You can get it over the counter by taking 1/2 tablet of Unisom and 10 mg of vitamin B6. These are the ingredients.

If none of this helps, your doctor can prescribe different medications, some of them you have seen mentioned.

I hope you feel better. The HCG peaks at 10 weeks and usually by 12-14 weeks patients feel better.
