Hi, im 8 weeks pregnant today. My first doctors appointment is June 19th. I started spotting about a week and a half ago. Then started bleeding last friday, i was really worried so me and my husband went to the hospital. They basically told me that there wasnt anything they could do to stop a miscarriage if i was having one. All they would do is run a blood test and if it scored high, everything was ok, if it was low, i would be having a miscarriage. They told me that if i started hurting or if i went through more than a pad an hour, to come back. That friday night i passed a big blood clot, and bled through the weekend. Only small clots then. Filling a pad in about 10-12 hours. I never had any cramps or pain, just a slight soreness similar to a period. Today is tuesday, and im pretty much just spotting again. Not much bleeding at all. Is this normal?

No, bleeding during pregnancyis not normal. It is possible you had a miscarriage. Only your doctor can tell you for sure. I'd call your doctor and tell him about the bleeding.

I feel your worry. I have been pregnant three times. One total normal, one miscarriage around nine weeks, and another one in which I bled quite a bit. My OB told me that bleeding actually is completely normal and doesn't always mean a miscarriage. So the blood doesn't automatically mean that something is wrong. There are several reasons why it could happen. It is also true that there is nothing you or the doctors can do to stop it from happening.

Keep off your feet. The clots are just that, pooled up blood that has made it's way finally out of your body. You will probably see clots show after staying off you feet when the blood has time to pool up. If you miscarried it would be A LOT of blood. Like they said a pad an hour. You would also be cramping very badly worse than a normal period. I would suggest contacting your OB and making an appointment earlier if possible. Just for your peace of mind. Not knowing can drive you crazy, but don't lose hope yet either. If you happen to miscarry, please be aware that there are millions of women who know how you feel. You aren't alone and support is available. Good luck with everything. I wish you the best.

Thank yall so much for yall advice. And thank you hugabunch, you have encouraged me greatly to know our little peanut might still have a chance -83D-E0A i thought the same thing, if i were having a miscarriage, wouldnt i be hurting? And the heavy blood only lasted 2 days. Before that i was only spotting and then i spotted again. And today (thursday) im not bleeding at all. I heard that with a miscarriage you normaly bleed for a 7-10 days. So me and my family are remaining hopeful, and trying to think positive till we know for sure. Thank you all again.

I hope that everything is ok with you and your little bean. I wanted to share with you that not all m/c's are the same for everyone. I had one in Sept. with only minor cramping and spotting. Passed a clot and had very light bleeding throughout that day. (Only ever needed a pantyliner.) I did not bleed again until next month when I got AF. I did not tell you this to scare you, but to urge you to call your doctor. Blood work and/or ultrasound will let you know for sure. I will be praying for you.
