posted this on the could I be pregnant board as well. As I'm sure I am around 12 weeks pregnant due to movement I thought I might get more responses here.

My last period was back in Feb. My periods have been erratic since having my 4th baby Jan of 2011 as she is still nursing. I have had no morning sickness (which I had bad with my other kids). My only real pregnancy symptom was frequent urination. I had been fighting a sinus infection since November and it finally spread to one of my molars. I figured all the peeing was from my body trying to cleanse itself. I finally had a root canal about a month ago (May) and was put on amoxicillan (sp?) and given a script for tylenol with codeine, which I took for 2 days. Prior to the root canal I was taking extra strength tylenol and advil, for the pain with the last week before the root canal taking 3 or 4 pills at a time to get any pain relief.

About 2 weeks ago I started feeling movement in my lower abdomen. Still thinking I wasn't pregnant I figured it was just bowel movement, though it sure felt like quickening. Last Mon, when DTD with DH I could feel the hard ball of my uterus between us. Since then I have noticed I can feel the top of my uterus about an inch below my belly button and my pants have been slowly getting tighter. I haven't done HPT as I'm quite sure I'm pregnant and already have and appointment for my annual obgyn exam in about a week and a half.

I'm happy to be pregnant, we wanted to have one more before I'm much older. I'm just worried about the effects of all that medication on a developing fetus. I've always known by my first missed period that I was pregnant and taken precautions to avoid unnecessary chemicals and medications. Sorry this post is so long. I'd appreciate any feedback about this.

Robert O Atlas, MD responded:
Well, there is good news! The only medication which has some theoretical risks is the Motrin.

All the other medications you mentioned are not associated with causing any problems with the fetus.

Motrin, which is in the category of Aspirin is theoretically associated with issues. However, it is rarely ever notd to be problematic.

The fetus shoud be OK. Make sure you see your healthcare provdier.
