My daughter's first pregnancy

My daughter called this morning, from a hospital six hundred miles away. She is 11 weeks along in her first pregnancy. She began having sharp, stabbing pains in her kidney on Tuesday, went to the doctor, verified that the baby is fine and very, very active. Last night she began severe vomiting, went to the hospital, was admitted. It has been determined she either has a kidney infection or kidney stone. My concern: She is on morphine. What are the dangers to the baby?!!!!

Hi Grandparent-to-be -

I hope your daughter is feeling better, I can only imagine how frightening this is for you, so far away.

I found this information on Morphine Use While Pregnant . It explains problems with chronic use or high doses.

Hope this eases your mind,
Elizabeth
