Stell01 posted:
Im 13 weeks pregnant and when I sleep on my back, I feel a lot of pressure in my pelvis area, so I stretch my legs out and lift up my pelvis to relieve the pressure, will it harm the baby by me stretching. I started to have this pain last week at 12 weeks, is this normal.

No you are not going to hurt your baby by stretching. But you should try sleeping on your left side with a pillow between your knees. This helps to align your hips so you don't hurt as much. As you get bigger your baby can press on veins and slow down the blood flow so sleeping on your left side is one of the best positions to sleep in. I have a bad back and can't sleep on my left side so i've started sleeping in a recliner and that helps with the pain.

The pelvis pain is probably from your hips loosening up and stretching, getting them ready for child birth. Unfortunately the pain only gets worse so don't be afraid to soak in a warm tub or go swimming. The water shouldn't be more than 100 degrees for a bath and try to stay away from the hot tub. Swimming helps to take the weight off your hips and legs and will also help with the swelling you will get in your legs and feet. It's been a life saver for me and it has also helped me to maintain my weight.
