I woke up this morning with my right eye feeling funny like i had something in it. i looked in the mirror and it is swollen, red and having like a puss coming out of it. Should I call my provider and go into the hospital to get it take care of right away or can I get it looked at on Monday at my next appointment?

Robert O Atlas, MD responded:
If it does not improve over the next few hours, I would suggest having it look at. most are viral in nature and there is no treatment needed. It can take up to 3-5 days to improve however. It is going to improve, but it make take time. If it is bacterial, then you may need some medication to help with it.

It may be contagious, so be careful and wash your hands very well.

Hope you feel better.
