I'm currently 18 going on 19 weeks pregant and today had an ultrasound to determine the sex of the baby but the doctor told me that they couldn't see the spinal cord and the nerves in the brain so I have to go have an amino test done is it too early or is this something to worry about?, by the way I'm 37 years old

This is the perfect time if you need to undergo an amniocentesis. The risk of the procedure is quite low. We quote a risk of the procedure of 1 in 300-400.

I tell patients the procedure is like having blood drawn from the arm.
