28 weeks and noticeable slowed baby movement
    Flojay posted:
This is my first pregnancy and am excited and anxious, especially, as am older. I however noticed the usually very active baby movement slowing down vicibly and I don't know if I should be worried about this.
    Robert O Atlas, MD responded:
it is slightly unusual for the movement to slow at this point in time.

I teach individuals about fetal kick counts. Twice a day you want to count movements. usually we do this when the baby is most active (after meals). you want to count 10 movements. once you count that many, you are done. many times it only takes a few minutes. What you are trying to learn is the normal fetal movements your baby has. If you have not felt 10 movements in an hour, extend it one more hour. if you still have not felt 10 movements in 2 hours, you need to contact your healthcare provider and go to labor and delivery to get monitored to make sure the baby is OK.

I would also suggest you contact your healthcare provider and let them know your concerns. They may want to check an ultrasound and make sure the baby is growing appropriately.
Flojay replied to Robert O Atlas, MD's response:
Thanks for your response. The movement picked up the following week. I went for scan and was told everything was ok. I feel the baby's movement has increased but am still wondering why it slowed down then. Gave me a fright
