Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen welcomed a baby girl on December 5th. This is their second child born AT HOME!

Would you consider giving birth at home? Do you know anyone who has?

I had to have c-sections with both kids so a home birth was out of the question. If I had been able to give birth vaginally, I probably would have still gone to the hospital. I mean, who knows what could have gone wrong. What if I would have needed an emergency c-section?

I am currently planning on having a home birth! If you do your research you might find that it is something you are interested in! I would prefer to have a home birth, so we can only hope everything goes well! If you have a low risk pregnancy and are in overall good health, it is definitely something you should look into! Start by watching the documentary "The Business Of Being Born"

I would give birth at home. I don't know anyone who has. But it would definitely be something I would consider one day, all my pregnancies has been at the hospital. But I think it's great to be at home where you can be most comfortable.

My first pregnancy was picture perfect. I was a healthy 23 with absolutely NO medical problems. Couldn't have been easier, couldn't have felt better. I went into labor 2 days before my due date, went to the hospital. The monitor showed everything going well, I was having strong contractions but not feeling anything. Then all of the sudden my sons heart rate dropped to 40bpm. They rushed me for an emergency c-section. My perfectly healthy 23 year old uterus had ruptured spontanously for no discernable reason. My son passed away the next day. I almost died right there in the hospital. If I would have tried a home birth I would be dead. I don't understand why you wouldn't want to cover every possible problem by taking advantage of modern medicine and delivering in the hospital. NO ONE could have predicted what would happen to me. NO ONE can predict what problems might arise, even if everything seems perfect. I would be dead and gone if i had been at home...

I just read your post and wanted to cry, my heart broke for your loss.

I do agree with you. I will not have a home birth for the fear of unexpected complications.

I wish you all, all the best in whatever your decision may be.

As a Labor and Delivery nurse for over 20 years, and the mom of two, I can say without hesitation: DELIVER IN THE HOSPITAL! The key is communicate in advance with your OB?Midwife and then continue the conversation with your nurses...we have the same goals you do: healthy mom and healthy babies. All we are looking for is reasonable expectations - work with the healthcare team- they are ready to guide you towards the birth you want.
