Are These Real Labor Contractions?

The signs and symptoms to watch for include:

Hardening- The entire abdomen will become rock-hard
Tightening- An internal sense of constriction
Pressure- In the pelvic area; it can feel as if the baby is heading downward

In real labor, overtime, the following will apply — Contractions become:

Stronger- they become more intense
Longer- they last 30-60 seconds
Closer- they come in much closer proximity

(Braxton-Hickes or 'practice contractions' are short, 5-10 seconds long, and come intermittently, 1-4 in a day.)
