    Spotting during 1st Trimester

So, I just learned last week that I was pregnant via HPT. I of course scheduled a prenatal appointment with my OB. I won't be seeing her until the 6th. This is my second pregnancy. First child was born via c-section 6 years ago. I have no idea how far a long I am. I haven't had a period since December. (This is July) But I've taken a HPT every month because of the absence of my period. I had originally scheduled my OB appointment to figure out why I wasn't having a period. I have had a lot of stress in my life the last year, and I attributed the lack of it to that. I also have not experienced any symptoms of pregnancy until just recently. My guess is that I am about 7 weeks.

Friday, after having a bowel movement, I started bleeding a little. I wasn't constipated, but definitely strained to have a BM. The blood at first was pinkish in color, but only evident when I wiped with toilet tissue. I have been wearing a liner since, and have had VERY VERY little evidence of bleeding on the pad during the day and just smidge more over night. Sometimes (not every time) I go to the bathroom and wipe there is a little bit of brownish and sometimes light pink, but very little. I called the on call OB and she said I could possibly be miscarrying. To take it easy and call my regular doctor on Monday. I've had very little pain, only pressure and every once in a while a sharp pain. I guess the only cramping I experienced came after eating and I immediately had to have a BM.

My question is, how normal is a little spotting this early in the pregnancy? Have any of you experienced this? I would just like a little peace of mind until I can see my OB.

Spotting is common during all stages of pregnancy.
