I have had an upset stomach for a few days. A friend suggested pennyroyal tea. I didn't know I was pregnant till after I drank the tea. I am worried that I may have harmed the baby... does anyone anything about this tea? I have read that it can cause miscarrage. I haven't had any signs of that happening... I am scared and can't get in to see the doctor till next week... any info/ advice is appreciated. thanks

If you aren't having any strange symptoms or bleeding, I wouldn't worry about it. You probably didn't consume much, and what you did drink most likely wasn't very concentrated. There isn't anything you can do about what you did before you knew you were pregnant, so try not to stress yourself out too much.

I don't know much about Pennyroyal so I looked it up myself. It looks like the results are mixed. Some say it does induce miscarriages, but you need a large amount. Some say it is an old wives tale. From what I read, it sounds like Pennyroyal is a dangerous herb to ingest regardless of whether you are pregnant or not. You might want to pass that along to your friend.

Hi AN_217381, I have just read the post you wrote about drinking pennyroyal tea before finding out you were pregnant, and wondered how everything turned out? I know it was over 3 years ago, but did the pregnancy go without complications? I have just found out I am pregnant and I had been drinking pennyroyal tea occasionally to help with stomach problems, so am trying to find out if I might have damaged the baby somehow without realising. Any response would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I had a miscarrage a few weeks later. Not sure if the tea had anything to do with it or not. I hope everything works out for you.
