Husband attending doctor's appointment

Madwiggins posted:
Hello my EDD is 12/2/2010 so I am just starting to go into the 10th week. My husband and I are really excited because this will be our first child and I had a m/c a couple of months ago. My question is what doctors appointment is it ok/normal for the husband to attend? He wants to be there as much as possible but isn't sure what to expect.

My husband is going to attend every appt. We make sure to schedule them when he has a day off. He doesn't want to miss a thing.

Its very normal for husbands to attend. Mine attends all the big appt. He works so he can't make all of them. Some of them are pretty boring so I don't care that he isn't there.

would say let him come to every app. bcuz it will make him feel more involved in the pregnancy and since u just had a m/c a few months ago you guys will become a stronger as a couple n as parents too. my biggest regret was not having my husband at all 4 of the previous pregnancies dr. app. but with this one he will be at each n everyone of the dr. app..

Mine has gone to everyone. He wants to continue to go to each of them also so he knows whats going on and to make sure we are both ok. My baby and I are his world now and mean everything to him so he wants to do whatever he can for us. I schedule all my drs. appts on his days off just so he can be there.

Mine has gone to all of my appointments with me. He won't be able to make the next one but that's okay because it will be a boring one. If he can't make it to all of them the key one's he should be there for are the first one (that's when they do the family history questions), the first u/s (talk to your dr I know each one tends to do this a different week) and then deffntly the big one at 18-20 wks. If your worried he is going to feel uncomfortable at the first one prewarn him about what normally goes on in the OB/GYN office such as your feet up in the stirups so he isn't too shocked.

DH was only able to go to some of DS #1 appts but was able to go to all the ones for DS #2. He plans on attending all of them this time too. The only time he leaves the room is when they have to do a physical exam. He says he likes to go and show his support.

my husbands only days off are sundays bcuz he is the only one working n with our growing family n 2 of our children having bad asthma I am a stay at home mom but for each dr. app. he's gonna take off so he can be there n not miss anything like he did with the last 4 pregnancies. the other pregnancies b4 that he was in the marines so he couldn't always be there n there was one pregnancy where daddy was dying n another pregnancy where my big sister was dying so i changed doctors cuz i was outta state to be with my daddy n sister on their last days n he stayed home with the kids cuz that wasn't the place for my children to be, but he hated missing everything

I am 25w and my BF has gone to most of my MFM appts. I am high risk. He's gone to some of my OB appts. He'd rather see the u/s I get every 5 weeks than hear the heartbeat. I dont' blame him. My next OB appt is tomorrow and he is going to that so he'll get to hear the baby's HB for the first time.

DH went to the first one with me and he plans on going to most of them, but because he has to work I don't think that he will be able to make it to all of them. He is going to all of the u/s, but he won't be able to make it to the next appt. since he would have to call off and we really can't afford that right now, but I will be taking my mom instead.

Well this is our second so this time around DH is basically just going to be at the ultrasounds because now that we have DD we need all the money we can get, But with DD, DH was at most if not all the appts. It just depends on you i guess. Have fun all the appt are exciting cause you get to heart that little heartbeat each time.?
