Pregnancy after double mastectomy

Hi ladies

I've had double mastectomy a couple of years ago due to a rare cancer in one breast and a prophylactic on the other. I am all done with the reconstruction. Yay!!

I am currently 12 weeks pregnant (yay!!) and would like to know if anyone else who's had mastectomies would be able to share with me what to expect.

Of course, I am aware I will never be able to breast feed. But, other than that, what happens to all the hormones that would affect the breast tissue to generate milk? Do you get more cranky from the extra hormones floating around your body? Is the expected weight gain less given that the boobs are not going to grow?

Any insight you can give me is greatly appreciated!

The nausea has been subsiding, but still dealing with the bloat. Other than that, enjoying the first trimester!!

Yes, definately congrats to you!!! I'm not sure about the side effects, but that is a great question. In Nov 09' I had a duct removed from my right nipple (I had a benign tumor) and was told if we had any more kids I would not be able to breast feed from the right breast. So it is interesting to wonder if my left breast will become larger or what exactly to expect, lol.
