Caulking and birth defects
An_218006 posted:
Our house needs works. We knew it's not a good idea to paint it at this time because of the pregnancy. So we decided to have the contractor use caulking only to patch the holes on the outside of the house since the rain season is coming...

But then after the job has been completed...we read the label on the caulking and, to our devastating surprise, it says the caulking contains chemicals known to cause birth defects. Now we are in a freaked-out mode again. We keep thinking if the fume of the caulking can somehow make its way into our house.

By the way, I am 16 weeks pregnant.

I think you should be ok since you only used it on the outside of the house but I would give the Dr. a call to be sure.

If you did the caulking on the outside of the house, I really don't think you have anything to worry about it. You can also buy paint thats safe to use during pregnancy. Try not to worry about every little thing and enjoy your pregnancy!
