I am almost 37 yrs old, seperated and pregnant for the 2nd time. The first ended iin a mc by Thanksgiving 2010 and a d/c in early December. It has been 6 weeks since my last period on 4/25. Which by my calculations puts me at a due date of 1/13/2012. The baby is my hubby's but due to the last time he hasn't shown much "interest." My next objective is to find a dr as mine retired in January. I went to him because he was "the best." But I wasn't that happy with him. Do you think a male or female doctor is best?

I think that as long as you, the mommy, feels comfortable it doesn't matter. If you feel safe with any doctor then that is the most important feeling. I would look up doctors on the internet and see what the comments are from his/her patients. Considering this is a very important time in your life, you want someone you can trust and who will ease all of your worries the way a good doctor can.

Best of luck *hugs* congrats! And remember that everything happens for a reason!

My OB/GYN has several doctors in the practice, male and female, and I've been seen by all of them at one time or another. My regular doctor's male and I love him. Another male doctor in the practice I don't care for and won't go to him anymore. Their female midwife is great. One of the female doctors is okay and the other I don't care for.

I say if you're comfortable with the doctor, it doesn't matter if they're male or female.

I actually had a bad exerience with my very first Female OB who was shall I say a little "crunchy"and it turned me off to women docs, i find them to be a little more judgemental. I've had a male doc for the last almost 10 years and I love him!!

I've my primary as both men and women. Loved the lady dr I had tons. My current dr is a male and think he does great.

I'd say, like many others, if you feel comfortable with them and their care of you then it shouldn't matter. The better the bedside manner the better the dr in my case. When it has to do with female issues like UTI's or whatnot I did find it a tiny bit easier to talk about with a woman, but anymore I don't notice.
Expecting her little bunny this December! XD

Off subject a little bit but I'm confused about the dates you gave? If your last period was 4/25, its only been 4 weeks since then.

I just question b/c the first day of my LMP was 4/6 and I am just about 7 weeks along with my EDD of 1/10/12. You might want to recheck your dates so you aren't disappointed if you have an appt and can't see a heart beat or you don't measure as far along as you think you are.

As far as the male vs female OB goes... I have always seen a male gyno, I just felt more comfortable with it. But I moved to a new city and a friend highly reccommended her OB, which was a female. I just saw her for the first time last Friday and she was AWESOME! So I definitely feel its just whoever you feel comfortable with.
