Constipation/Miralax?

I am 11 weeks pregnant and haven't gone to the bathroom since last Tuesday...10 days ago! I have been taking Colace as reccommended by my OB but when I called today and told the nurse that it hasn't got things moving she acted very concerned. Since it's Friday my doctor is in surgery all day and the midwife that works with him is out of the office. The OB nurse told me to contact my family care doctor and ask what to do and she said to take Miralax. Is this going to be anymore helpful than the Colace? I don't want to wait around another 3 or 4 days for something to work. Anyone else have this problem???

Miralax did help me during one very uncomfortable week when I was pregnant with my 2nd daughter.

Have you increased your fiber intake? Be sure to drink extra fluids and get some physical activity as well.

Make sure to check with your doctor before starting any medication or over the counter treatment - hang in there!

I cannot stomache that stuff just yet. But I am taking Zofran and it always does this to me. I drink as much as I can tolerate, eat lots of fiber fruits and veggies. I started taking colace twice a day and I take 2-3 chewable tabs of fiber to help. Yet it is still very difficult for me. I am going back to my doc on the 27th...Oh and I am 10w1d! I am going to start walking this weekend, up until now I was barely able to get off the couch but the sickness is starting to let up yayy.

have you ever tried eating papaya? That helps tremendously! That's what helped me after my D&C a few years back when nothing else helped. Try this tropical fruit and go out for a walk. That will help get things moving. If not ask if a soft glycerin suppository is safe for you to use

Do NOT have papaya. Green papaya is well known to cause a release of prostaglandins, resulting in premature contractions that can cause a miscarriage. If you were in the tropics and told people you were pregnant, the first thing they'd tell you is not to eat papaya or pineapple. I would just stay away from it and stick with walking and fibre.

The miralax seems to be working ok. I was worried about being able to keep it down but I mix it with juice and it has no taste. Thanks for the advice!! I'll keep you posted on my BM's from now on!

I never thought to mix it with juice, think I will give that a try. Nice idea and glad it's working for ya!
