I'm not sure if this is your first pregnancy, and if you already know some of this I apologize, and I am a lengthy writer. I'm no expert, and I'm only about 12 weeks into my first pregnancy, but I'll tell you what I've been through and learned so far. I found out I was pregnant on April 9th- the estimated I was about 4 -5 weeks pregnant based off my last period. Since I was at risk for an ectopic pregnant my primary ordered an ultrasound -I found out I was 5 weeks, 6days pregnant.
(figuring out how pregnant you are this early can be difficult, and an ultrasound is much more accurate than estimating based on your last period, if you do it the latter way the guess can be off by two or so weeks so the 9 weeks could have been wrong if you didn't find out how far along you were the first time by ultrasound),
Two days after my ultrasound I experienced slight bleeding, and went to the ER. They told me I was having a threatened miscarriage. However, my mom also happens to work in the E.R, and I wasn't having any sever cramps, just mild ones, she told me that while the doctor and the ultrasound technician were qualified to do their job, they work in the E.R and can't generally beat the diagnosis of an OB/GYN whose profession solely focuses on babies. I was devastated, and paranoid, I didn't have an OB/GYN yet but made an appointment with my primary and had blood tests done to test my HCG hormone levels. A few days later I found out my HCG levels were increasing and everything seemed okJ I have my first official OB/GYN on the 24th, and it's a little late because we only have one group of them around here but most OB/GYN's want to see you between 8 and 10 weeks, so you should probably go ahead and schedule an appointment, if you can't get one soon enough and you're really worried, do what I did and schedule to have a blood test done with your primary (they'll take some blood, test it, and then take more blood two days later to test to see if your HCG levels are increasing) if they're increasing you don't have to worry so much ( I know- easier said than done) Spotting is normal during early pregnancy, from what I've heard there's not much to be concerned about unless it's heavy (like your period, and you're having sever cramps) However, every pregnancy is different- do what you need to do to get peace of mind, I hope the best for you!
