1St Trimester Cramping

2013Mama posted:
Hello everyone,

I just found out that I am pregnant about a week ago. My husband and I are thrilled! I've been experiencing some cramping in my lower abdominal region mostly when I lay down to sleep. Is this normal or am I sleeping in a position that is causing these cramps?

Thank you, Lori Ann

If the cramping is dull, with no bleeding then most likely normal. With my first and second pregnancies I had cramping for a week when I had first found out. It is related to all the stretching and making room for your growing baby. With this pregnancy I started getting the cramping the week my period was due. I cramped for a week but never bled, that lead me to believe I was preggers again, which I was. Implantation in the beginning can also cause some minor cramping. Good luck!
