I know that in pregnancy food aversions are a part of life, but for the last week, I seem to be having an aversion to all food. I force myself to eat b/c I know my baby needs it, but it's really hard. Usually, I eat until I feel like I'm about to be sick (I figure if I actually get sick, that would do my baby as much good as if I hadn't eaten at all). But I've only been able to eat much smaller amounts of food than I normally do. In the last couple of weeks, I had just started to be able to eat normally after a lot of problems w/ m/s and I had actually gained back 4 of the 11 pounds I had lost from that in the first tri. Now I have re-lost 3 pounds in the last week. And I really am making myself eat as much as I can.

The other problem is that almost none of the food I can force down is terribly nutritious. I am religious about taking my prenatals and I also take extra vitamin C and calcium (cleared with my dr), but I'm worried it's not going to be good enough. I have a dr appt next week and I am definitely going to mention this then, but in the meantime, I am living on a diet of mostly soup and simple starches.

Anyone else dealing with a similar situation or have any advice on what I can do? Thanks!

ugh........ I hate this new format.... if we still had signatures I wouldn't have to ask this question....... How far along are you? I have had a lot of food 'aversions' (When I say aversions.... its not like the thought of eating whatever makes me sick..... it is that I just don't feel like eating/have no apetite...... but that was kind of how I was pre-pregnancy....)

I'm 15 weeks. Before I was pregnant, I looooooooooooved to eat. I would have to be really careful not to eat all of the things I wante to or I would have been horribly overweight. But pregnancy has wreaked havoc on my desire to eat. M/s in 1st tri made me not want to eat anything (and generally unable to eat b/c I couldn't keep anything own). I had a few weeks of feeling more normal. And then last week, this all started. I mean aversion exactly the way you said, nothing is appealing and I just don't feel hungry. And that's why I feel sick after I eat a bit of food, I think. Since I don't feel hungry in the first place, I feel REALLY full, REALLY fast. Is there anything you've found to help either pre-pregnancy or now?

I had to completely alter the way I ate. . . . Instead of eating a full meal like a normal person I will spread it out (this drives my DH For example... I get up and eat a yogurt and prenatals....2 hours later I will eat some carrot sticks.... 2hours later I will eat something else.... ect.. It made my DH crazy because before I would often just make meat for dinner because I couldn't eat much more than that (If I was working will full portions)..... but I have recently altered the way I do that now too.... I HAVE to make a full dinner now because my DH and I vowed not to go out and eat anymore since it was costing too much money.... So now I eat a full dinner (meat, veggies, ect) it is just that I use a small plate and my portions are maybe 1/3 of what my DH eats. (I still eat every couple hours though during the day... I don't really have a designated "breakfast" or "lunch" was that confusing? sorry, I tried to explain it the best I could given the way I are before and my recent adjustments.... in short... eat healthy snacks every couple hours... and have smaller portions for dinner

I have issues eating as well. I don't like home cooked meals AT ALL. It's gotta be fast food. My lunches at work consist of TV dinners.

I used to like cooking and eating beforehand. Now I hate it. I dont know if I've gained weight. I'll find out on Thursday when I go to the dr. I too, am going to find out about this bad eating habits.

I can't stand the smells of certain foods...foods that I used to like. It's gotten pretty bad for me... I don't like this one bit...
