Busted Blood Vessel in Cervix??

So I am 18 wks and have a one year old whom we just threw a birthday party for so needless to say lots of household projects and cleaning during the last two weeks. After everyone left last night I noticed I was bleeding....FREAKY! I had a miscarriage previous to my one year old so I am extra freaked out when things happen like this. The dr. mentioned she thought due to the amount and color that I probably just busted a blood vessel in my cervix?? and that I needed to rest and not do anything for the next few days. I am worried at this point and just wanted to know if anyone else has experienced this? I have felt him move a few times so that has been some re-assurance.

I haven't experienced anything like that, but if you're having any bleeding at 18 weeks you need to be seen by a dr asap. I can't imagine any OB/Gyn not telling you to go straight to the ER or their office after seeing blood. (Honestly, if my dr didn't tell me to do so, I would get a new dr). So, I think you should probably go to the ER and get it checked out to make sure that your baby's placenta is doing well, etc.

I at first thought the same thing, but after talking to the dr last evening she explained that if it isnt the amount of a period, or bright red they just monitor you (which was it was neither), and the fact that by the time I had discovered it at the end of the birthday party you could tell it was old blood (dark) and tapering off. sorry if TMI. She told me to of course call back if it started back up and she would send me straight to the hospital which is 10 min from our home. My dr is a high risk specialist since I had a previous miscarriage. She made it seem like this was a pretty common thing to happen but the only other person I know who has experienced it was my sister in law at 5 1/2 months and my niece turned out fine. I am such a worry wart I will probably call first thing in the morning and demand to get an ultrasound. Better safe than sorry =(
