    Exciting News for WebMD Members!

We've been busy behind the scenes building new message boards for you. You'll have new and easier ways to find messages, connect with others, and share your stories.

And, this will all be available on your smartphone or other mobile device!

What Do You Need to Do?

The message board you're used to will be closing in the coming weeks. While many of your boards will be making the move to our new home, your posts will not. Want to keep a discussion going? Save posts you want to continue (this includes your member profile story), so that you can re-post them in the new message boards.

Keep an eye here and on your email inbox, we'll be back in touch soon to give you all the information you need!

Ring on a String Gender test

If you know for sure the sex of your baby, have you tried the ring/needle on a string/hair test to see if it's right? If you haven't heard of it, you place either a ring or needle on either a piece of hair or a string, hold it over your baby belly. If it swings in a circle, it's supposed to be a girl and if it swings in a straight line, it's a boy. I really wanted to wait for the big surprise on the birth day but I'm starting to get too excited that I might be having a boy this time. I'm just curious to see how accurate this little test is.

It's not accurate at all, it's all just in good fun. the only way to know for sure what you're having is when you see your little bundle of joy. it was wrong the first time for me and the second time it was right, however my friend did it over my hand, not my belly lol so who knows. it was wrong for one of my coworkers.

Yep, it's totally 50/50 ;) It is fun though. Mine said boy, along with every quiz I've taken and the chinese gender predictor; my big u/s test is tomorrow, so we'll see!!!

I did it with my son and it got it totally wrong. Said it was a girl. Nope..he is all boy! The heart beat wives tale isn't right either. My son's heart beat was 165 the entire time so everyone said girl. NOPE! Wrong again. Can't believe any of that stuff.
