Natural Remedies

Hi! I have been suffering from this heartburn since last night. It kept me up for most of the night and is continuing to be a nuisance this morning. I'm really not into taking any medicine. Does anyone know of any natural or home remedies for heartburn?

Raw almonds. I have also heard chewing gum helps but I haven't tried that one. The almonds helped me. Tums aren't really medicinal and are actually an excellent source of calcium and doctors sometimes tell women that don't have heartburn to take one daily to help with muscle cramps and Charley Horses. In the evenings when my heartburn gets bad I have some chocolate milk before bed, that usually settles it enough for me to get to sleep.

I was told a teaspoon of mustard or taking a drink of vinegar to get rid of heartburn.
I have yet to try them because my hubby bought me some maalox for heartburn and that stuff works for me.

My younger sister just told me about mustard, too. I was like, eww, mustard? But I might try that in the future. I'm feeling better now.

Fresh papaya, or papaya enzyme tablets. The enzyme is a digestive enzyme, which helps with digestion and can decrease the acid your body produces. Other fruits with similar enzymes are pineapple, kiwi, and banana. You can either eat them fresh or combine them and make a smoothie.
Apple cider vinegar. There is a tablet form of this, as well, and I'm told it works as well as taking the liquid apple cider vinegar.
I've tried the papaya enzyme tablets and the fresh pineapple. As long as I avoid foods that I KNOW will cause heartburn (like pizza) and remember to take the tablets with my last meal, I can get by most nights with no issues or only needing one dose of Tums.
