I'm 13wks and 5 days. I go to my Dr. appt. doctor 1st listens around for baby heartbeat...then quitely tells me have u seen an utrasound specialist? I said not till Aug 21st (I was in a car accident & had x-ray, ct scan etc not knowing i was peg. I was 1week)
Then my doctor used his ultrasound machine to view my baby all we could see was the head and that my baby wasn't laying sideways like most babies do it was in standing upright position like how I stand. Then he stated i have a different placenta???? I asked him what he meant and he said "oh nevermind" (his english isn't too great)
Well he sent me right away to do blood work and order for the front desk girl to send autho for my ins to do an ultrasound...they want to test for down syndrome...I keep asking them to explain to me whats happening and they just keep teling me not to worry its normal procedures they're having me do.... BUT they didnt do this with my other 2 childeren and I spoke to my cousin whose also 13 1/2wks pregnant and her doctor did not order this done for her??? So now I'm worried and been stressed out my dr office said they'll get back to me once the get autho for ultrasound...Should I be worried? Is this normal and is there something not right here? Also my baby has not moved from the right side of my uterus....You know how most babies are right in the middle of the placenta....well not mine, he/she is on thright side head u and feet down position....but all we can see was the head and a tiny hand go up then right back down......

I would demand more answers and not take "oh nevermind" for an answer.

I'm not sure what you having a different placenta has to do with anything as the fetus is not inside the placenta. At 13 weeks the baby isnt even all the big (about the size of a peach) so I'm not understand what it's location in the uterus has to do with anything. Also, this early in the pregnancy, the babys position doesn't really matter anyway, it could do cartwheels inside you if it wanted and it wouldn't matter.

If you are feeling uneasy with your doctors answers, then you need to insist on them being answered (YOU are the patient, you have a right to know what is going on) or you should perhaps find a new doctor who wont withhold information from you.
