Healthy, beautiful, vibrant, blessed, happy, baby BOY!!!!

I had my ultrasound today and got a chance to see my baby boy wave hello to me! It was wonderful! Of course, we recorded it, but I'm having difficulty sending the video via email.

Does anyone know another way?

I can't believe you only get 2 ultrasounds, so that was my last one unless I pay for it They should at least give you three...one for each trimester.

I'll most likely buy a 4D Ultrasound...DH will be here when I'm around 28 weeks. Do you think that's too soon for a 4D? I'd rather wait til around 35 weeks, but DH won't be here and I definitely want him to get to see the baby via ultrasound.

Lurking from 3rd tri.

I'm surprised that you only get 2 ultrasounds. Is that common for your state/insurance?

I have GD so I get an ultrasound every month to monitor my little guy and now i've started non-stress tests so i'm hooked up to monitors for 20 min. twice a week to check the baby's heartbeat, fluid, and to make sure baby is gettting enough oxygen.

It's pretty cool to see your baby wave at you. Mine did that at my 10 week ultrasound.

I think a 4D ultrasound would be pretty cool and I don't think it's too early to get one.

I think it might be common...my sister had GD and she only had 2 ultrasounds as well. She had to pay for her 3D.

Does everyone get non-stress tests or just those with GD?

I had ultrasounds once a month during my first trimester but after that, my doctor said you can't really see much because they're bigger. I did have some extra ones with a specialist because I was considered high risk due to my age (>35).

I don't think everyone gets non-stress tests. I think it's more for those who have GD or are high risk or the doctor doesn't think you have enough fluid or the baby isn't getting enough oxygen.

GD can cause low fluid and cause problems with the placentia making it hard for baby to get the needed oxygen and nutrients it needs.

At 18 weeks my placentia was low so I had to get another one a month later to check to see if it corrected itself, which it did. With GD it can cause the baby to grow too fast and can cause other problems so I get ultrasounds every month to make sure everything is ok and baby is growing normally.

I sure hope your sister's baby was ok. GD can put you into high risk because of the risk factors involved. She could have gotten preeclamsia (sp?), gone into early labor or had a large baby among other problems. I'm surprised her doctor only ordered two ultrasounds.

My sister's baby is healthy and wonderful!...thank God!

She just had a difficult time with the diet.

I'm really hoping I don't have to deal with GD...I think most of the things I eat now I will have to change and eating for me is already the most difficult part of the pregnancy...I don't want it to get any worse.

I'm glad everything is going well with you and baby!

I'm glad your sisters baby is doing well.

I hope you don't have to deal with GD either, it's not much fun. At least with my diet i've been able to maintain my weight and haven't gained a lot.

Be sure to eat plenty of protein and fiber and stay away from things high in carbs if you think you might have GD. And get plenty of exercise. A walk after meals helps a lot.

The ultrasound tech told me that I will get 1 more, unless I want to pay for the 3D/4D one. That would make a total of 3, unless I pay (then 4)...but I got an extra one at 11 weeks, because doppler wouldn't pick up the heartbeat

Im 25 weeks, almost 26 and I've had an ultrasound for every trimester. I want a 3D one though. Would be cooler.
