The last few weeks I have been having chest pains, shortness of breath and dizziness. I was reffered to a cardiologist after I was seen in the er for those symptoms. Everything checked out ok at the hospital but the cardiologist told me I have a heart murmur probobly due to the pregnancy. He scheduled an Echo cardiogram for further results. I am really nervouse about my labor now and that there may be complications. I also have gestational diabetes. Does anyone have this problem or something similar. The doctor's don't seem to worried but it's mine and my baby's life not there's.

A lot of women get heart murmur's due to pregnancy its because your body id pumping so much extra volums. I have had them with each one of my 3 pregnancies. They resolve after delivery.

Yeah, its really common to get a heary murmur when pregnant, it is benign and isn't a problem. It goes away after you deliver, usually by your 6 week check-up. I've had one with each of my 3 pregnancies.

Thanks ladies, I feel much better now. I also just got my results back from an echo cardiogram that the cardiologist ordered. It came back normal, thank God.
Oh by the way Christen, are you on meds for your diabetes, or just diet control? I just got sent pills and I'm scared to take them.

Age: 35
Due Date: 6/27/12 (35 weeks) It's a Girl!

I too have been diagnosed with GD and I have been to see a cardiologist because of shortness of breathe and racing heart (can't sleep on my left side either makes my heart pound so loud). My cardiologist thinks I have early onset lung disease (I unfortunately was a smoker prior to my pregnancy for approximately 20 years). I am currently scheduled to have ultrasounds on my legs looking for bloodclots, have already had an echo that came back normal as well as blood tests. As for the GD I am currently into my second week of using insulin and I can't seem to get my sugars within the normal parametres that they are looking for, it is driving me crazy!! As horrible as it sounds I am about ready to have my LO out so I can make sure I am not doing any damage to her. Anyone else feel this way?
