The doctor I'm seeing is called away a lot for deliveries. The past 2 appointments I was seen by a PA and a midwife. Last week I was 2 cm dilated and 75% effaced and measured 36 weeks. This week (seen by someone else) I'm 2 cm dilated and 25% effaced and measure 35 weeks. Is it possible to go backwards from 75% to 25%?

Well I read somewhere that it is that since your cervix is basically a tube, it can dilate in different areas. Sometimes the part closest to the baby will dilate different than the part that's closest to the outside. Since its a tube, the part that's closest to your vagina can be dilated to a two or three, while at the top, by the baby its still closed off.
