Low Blood sugars during pregnancy

kbstephens posted:
I am 27 wks pregnant with my second child. I had gestational diabetes with both pregnancies. I rescently discovered that I am having frequent low blood sugars (50-70) mid day while at work. I was wondering if anyone could tell me if this is harmful to the baby and are there any longterm harmful effects?

I had the same exact question. I'm not sure if there are any harmful effects, but I would talk to your doctor. The medication may need to be changed or the eating habits. I go through the same thing at least 3 times a week. It usually happens when I don't eat enough carbs or if I miss my snack. I am going to talk to my doctor about possibly reducing my insulin so this doesn't happen anymore and to ask about the effects.

I only take my insulin at night and it is only supposed to last 8-12 hrs. My lows happen in the afternoon so I am thinking that I just need to snack more often. My concern is that the one day I didn't even feel low and it was 67 when I checked before lunch. I then did a continuos glucose monitor, just for the heck of it and found that i tend to be low in the afternoon everyday, when I am at work. I looked everywhere on the internet and have found no answers. Thanks for your response though.
