I am beginning to wonder if full term for diabetic pregnancies are different than regular pregnancies. My friend had gestational diabetes and had to be induced at 36 weeks, they didn't want to wait any longer. I'm not sure if it was because of the diabetes or another personal issue. My question is for all you diabetic moms that have done this before, how far along were you before you had your baby? Did anyone go 40+ weeks?

I don't think they will let you go past 40 weeks. I had GD with my last and they kept a close eye on his size. They said if he got too big they would take him early. I ended up going into labor 38 weeks 6 days and he was almost 8 lbs. My doctor wouldn't let me go past 39 weeks. This time I am in the same boat, so I hope she comes on her own and so far she is measuring right on track. I think they are more strict about it if you were diabetic before getting pregnant which wasn't the case with me.

Thanks for the reply. I was a diabetic before pregnancy so I was worried about that. The doctor said they would consider 37 weeks full term but they wouldn't induce. It just depends on what is going on with the pregnancy at that point.
