Hello everyone. new to the webmd boards. I am here looking for answers for my 24 year old husband. He has been sick for about 6 weeks now. His symptoms include leg/knee pain and weakness, cloudy vision,fatigue,nausea,1 bout of vomitting due to pain, severe back pain that felt like electrical shocks and muscle spasms, jerking with muscle spasms, urinary hesistance, impotence. We have seen 3 different doctors and did 2 ct scans and 2 er visits due to his severe back pain. He had a uti at the beginning and we went to an internal medicine doctor and he checked his prostate glad and said it was enlarged and put him on an antibiotic. The only thing that is getting him back on his feet are prescribed muscle relaxers. Has anyone had similar symptoms? and is that pretty rare to get prostatitis at age 24? As of right now nothing is not adding up just to prostatits. I am trying to get him in to see a neurologist and an mri done of his brain and spine. His grandmother had progressive multiple sclerosis and passed away from it. He had eye problems at 18 that landed him with an mri to check for ms and was sent to several different opthomologist. If anyone has advice please let me know. We are stuck in the dark here and don't know what next step to take.

Well, I am no doctor....but in all my reading I find that only Bactrim will cure prostatis, not anti-biotics, but doctors don't seem to know this anymore, since the discovery of anti-biotics they have forgotten that sulfur is the cure, and Bactrim is sulfur. Ask for it.

good luck

Well his urinalysis came back clean. So idk if it was bacteria causing it. I really don't know anymore. I would think that was pretty rare to get prostatits at age 24 but I'm sure it could happen. I am trying to get him in to see a neurologist right now. He has way too many symptoms consisting with the nervous system.

Hi, - Prostatitis can be acquired at any adult age. With all due respect and for your own safety, I would suggest that you obtain your medical advice from someone who knows the difference between Sulfa and Sulpher, and has some idea as to what an antibiotic is.

Bactrim is a combination of 2 ANTI-BIOTICS, sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim. Like all such drugs, they are only effective against bacterial infection which is ONE possible cause of inflammation of the Prostate, which is known as Prostatitis.

If your 24 year old husband has been continually sick for six weeks with the symptoms you describe, he is a candidate for a complete work-up to better define the cause.

Is there a University Medical Center anywhere near you? Such institutions are usually a good source for such diagnostic investigation since most, if not all, medical specialties and diagnostic resources are more readily available. Good luck! - John@newPCa.org (aka) az4peaks

So my question is now Would you have severe low back pain that felt like electrical shocks and very painful muscle spasms in the back to the point of nausea with prostatitis or just a low dull back ache? Also, would it be pointless to take an antibiotic for prostatitis if your urine come back clean? Or, could the bacteria be in the semen. Sorry for all the question. I am just trying to sum up all his odd symptoms. Still questioning if all of his symptoms are due to prostatitis or something is seriously going on here. I am wondering if he needs to be referred to a neurologist, urologist or a rheumatologist. Or if all these odd symptoms will phase out and not come back. Thanks in advanced to all the helpful advice and tips.

Hi,

I suggest your bloke should see a chiropractor. I had cloudy vision fatigue and nausea as my nervous system was out of whack and was fixed up through adjustments. For the prostatis condition, I recommend regular ejaculation to keep it healthy and self prostate massage-either with finger or device-should fix up prostatis naturally. Also in regards to fatigue he may be deficient in vitamin B. Muscle spasms can be brought on by a lack of magnesium in the diet.

All the best

Davo
