Male urine guards for those recovering from prostate surgery

Hi, Byroney on the Incontinence Board suggested I also post my message here in the hopes that someone may pass along their experiences. I pasted my original post below:

Hey guys,

I am still recovering from prostate surgery, but my urinary incontinence has lessened quite a bit in the past month. I am thinking about switching from an external cath to these male urine guards from Jackson Medical (who I've never heard of). I guess because they are so new there isn't much written about them. I read this positive review on this condom catheter site, but am trying to get more feedback. They are not terribly expensive, but right now I am still out of work and am trying to be careful about any purchases.

Sorry for the ramble. I am hoping someone is using these or has used them and can post a bit about their experience. I am just trying to avoid wasting money if they don't work very well.

Thanks!

I have not used those. And I did not have much problems with leakage.

But I looked them up and notice that they said for light to moderate leakage.

It seems to me the pads that I used where rated the same. And you can get generic brands inexpensively at Walmart, drug stores and the like.

You might get one pack and try them.

I buy poise pads at walmart. 72 for about $14.50. They are soft and do not rub like some others I have tried. They also hold water better than others also.

You can order a free sample of the Male Urine Guard from Jackson Medical at www.jacksonmedicalproducts.com . I use them and I like them but you can test it for yourself.

@mskite - I will give the Poise Pads a shot.

@billy - I saw your response on my other post. Thanks for the tip.

I spoke to a gentleman at a support group that recommended the Jackson clamp. He even had one to show us. It is a very clever yet smple device that he said was invented by a urologist that had prostate cancer. It appears very effective and would allows blood circulation while in place. It also appears very adjustable for compression.
