I'm curious how surfing has changed for you in terms of balance and strength, since the accident? What types of exercises have helped you to recover and enjoy the sport again?

It's actually hard to remember the difference now because I'm used to one arm. But there are things I need to do differently, like think more about where to position myself in the lineup. My paddling with one arm is not as strong as it would be, but I've learned to kick while paddling and that helps.

Balance-wise, our bodies are so good at adapting to our circumstances that I haven't had too much of an issue with it. Certain maneuvers are more challenging without my left arm, but still possible.

I do balance training moves with the TRX and a Bosu ball to better my balance!
