Alergic reactions to MTX or any other meds

I have been battling kidney problems/hypercalcemia for over a year. I have been in the hospital 5 times throughout 2011. At first my doctors couldn't pinpoint the problem and did a kidney biopsy which came back as an alergic reaction. We eliminated the MTX and all symptoms subsided. I've recently started to have symptoms again with kidney levels up along with the calcium level high. I am almost at my wits end. I want to know if anyone has had the same problem as I and also if I should try second opinions. I would appreciate any feedback. Thanks!

I am not an expert in this area, but in my patients with high calcium, I do check a blood test to measure parathyroid hormone.
