Waiting for test results (frustrated!!)

I'm just venting a little here. I've been waiting for the doctor to call me back with my test results for a week now! I have called 3 times and I keep getting the same answer from the M.A....."the doctor will call back today to discuss the results with you"...According to the M.A. my test results have been sitting on the desk since last Friday (1st time I called) and all she could tell me is that "some of my results are too high and some are low, and I might need medication to correct them, but that's all she can tell me"...in the meantime I'm sitting here waiting for the phone call in quite a lot of pain! I did go in person to see what was going on and with my bad luck the office was closed....I feel that when blood tests results do not come back normal a doctor should call the patient as soon as he/she gets them on her desk. What is the point of the tests if nothing is going to be done about them.

That is really frustrating. Hopefully your doctor is trying to find time to think about your treatment plan before he tells you the results. Be patient. It will all be behind you soon, and you will be on the road to treating whatever is going on there. It seems like forever when you are the one waiting, and in pain.

Wow that is terrible within a week after my appointment for blood work my doctor gave me a call and we discussed the test results he informed me that I tested very very positive for R.A. and that afternoon his nurse called me back to inform me that they had setup a appointment with a specialist.so now I am taking daily meds and a Methotrexate injection once a week. I hope they don't keep you waiting much longer I know how hard it is waiting and wondering what's wrong.

Hello...
I still haven't heard from the doctor yet. I'm going in tomorrow in person again. I tried calling the office a couple of times and I think they were ignoring my calls since they have caller ID because Ive been going there for years and I KNOW for a fact that the desk is NEVER alone and when the office is closed they have an answering service. I'm so disappointed with this new doctor. She took over for my previous doctor. This is not a good way to start a Patient/Doc relationship...I've been suffering for months and continue suffering because I don't know what's wrong with me. Hopefully tomorrow I will get SOME answers.

Hey! thanks for asking...well nothing so far. I went 3x in person and called many times and this past Tuesday I found out that the Doc was on vacation all that time and she never called me. Last time I talked to the receptionist she'd said that my file was on the dr.'s desk waiting to be reviewed and I never heard from them again. Im very disappointed with this. I'm still in so much pain. Im planning to go back in person on Monday.

Time to get a new doctor! I had the same problem. My doctor never returned my calls, I tried going in but she was out, they didn't answer. I finally switched to someone who put my health first. You are sick have chronic pain. You need someone who understands that. Fifty percent of doctors graduated in the bottom half of their class...I think you got one of those...

Fire your doctor, he/she doesn't seem to realize they work for you and it is a business. I'm sorry this is happening. Ask around for recommendations. I found my new family doctor through my chiropractor. I love her, she's amazing. She listens, gets me in right away, returns my calls, answers questions, and makes me feel taken care of. Being sick is scary, you need someone who gets that. Seriously, fire your doctor. I've been where you are and I remember sobbing when the pain was so bad, wondering what I would do. I ended up going to the E.R. where they couldn't believe my story. I needed a refill of my Tramadol...a non-narcotic pain reliever. They actually laughed that it was so hard for me to get it filled and that I was being treated like a "seeker" someone who just wants pain meds. That sucks, I hope you get answers (and/or a new doctor who knows how to do their job and take care of patients).

Best of Luck! Crystal

That's horrible! I had. Similar situation. They told me that if they didn't call me it was good news. When the pain didn't subside I went in to see my doctor and it turned out the results were lost. Then. Nurse gave me the bad news on the phone on December 23 (merry Christmas eh) an said th docto didn't want to see me and I could speak to my rheumatologist in 8-10 months.

How do these people get their degrees? They are horrible!

Get your results and hopefully some help with the pain and then find a new doctor.
