Rheumatoid Nodules on ankles ?

Does anyone out there have Rheumatoid Nodules on their ankles ?
I have what I believe are Rheumatoid Nodules on the back of my ankles (2-3 on each) - above the heels (where the achilles tendon is located). I have had them for awhile and no pain associated with them, so I don't think they are achilles tendon tears, but think they are Rheumatiod Nodules instead. My RA dr says she has never seen Rheumatiod Nodules on the ankles and doesn't think that is what it is. I am wondering if any one else out there has gotten Rheumatiod Nodules on their ankles.

Dear sunray_125,

This article on Rheumatoid Nodules specifically mentions the heels as a place nodules can form. Perhaps you can print the article out and have her check into it further the next time you see her? That way, you can find out for sure what they are.

Best wishes,

Byroney

Sunray_125,

I had them on the underside of my toes. Good thing though, my Rheummy said that they can go away after awhile. All, but two of mine have disappeared. Keep that in mind!!!!

Peace Out,
Kel

I have a Rheumatoid Nodule above my heel on both legs. The right is very painful when walking and wakes me during the night, although my gp prescribed amitryptilene. The left is only tender to the touch. I too, would like to know if anyone has experienced this problem and the treatment involved. Both are the size of quails eggs

Thanks for the reply. It is good to know that someone else really has Rheumatiod Nodules above their heels too. My RA dr just dismisses them as she has never seen them in this location before. Now I can tell her that there are other people with RA that have them in this location too. Hopefully others will response and let us both know that RA nodules in this location is more common than just you and I. Luckily mine are smaller than yours are and mine are not painful yet. Hopefully yours will shrink or the meds will help. Thanks for replying to my question.

I have a huge one on my left ankle and it's extremely painful. I don't know what treatment they're going to start me on as I only had the ultrasound scan today
