Has anyone change their diet?

The reason im asking is because my doctor said that food had nothing to do with feeling better and with the swollen, but i have proof him wrong. Since i did a reserch about foods to be avoid, i changed my eating habits, and let me tell you, i can feel a big results.
I have stop caffeine, white breads, pastas, red sauses, all kinds of carbs, red meat.....I have more energy and less pain...
Also if i dont drink enough water, the pain in my body is ununbearable.

My boyfriend's mom has pretty severe RA, and she has found that going with a gluten free diet is amazing for her. And if she ever slips on it, like if she would eat a piece of fish coated in bread crumbs she 100% feels the pain from it. I can only speak to her experiences as I don't have RA myself. But from what I know her diet really makes a difference in how she feels from day to day.

I have totally changed my diet over the last 4 weeks and it is crazy how much better I feel. I am Eating Right for my Blood type. I have Arthritis for 7 years now and this is the only time I feel better. I have gotten rid of what you have mentioned plus went a little further because of my Type A, that included going gluten free. I have never felt better! In fact last week when I decided I was doing good I tried to drink a Dr. Pepper and I couldn't drink 3 ounces of it before my stomach told me to STOP!. That was one of my favorite drinks. Anyway, diet helps more than medicine. I am just happy to say I am no longer taking the pain meds. I meet with my doctor next month and will see what she recommends.

I would encourage you all to visit a nutritionist who can help you determine what foods add to your pain. I went gluten-free and felt better for about a month, then got worse. My nutritionist put me on an elimination diet which showed wheat, corn, potatoes, tomatoes, and peppers were my problem foods. I now eat these foods very infrequently, in a rotation. Other people with RA have different foods they have to avoid, so it's important to work through the diet and see which ones cause you pain. I am off the pain medications, but still take my methotrexate to prevent joint damage.

Hi, I myself was diagnosed with RA.. Even though it was really hard for me both emotionally and physically I tried different options with the help of my kind husband who is by my side. First is drinking lots of water which I have to keep up ( 8 cups a day is the goal) my husband also believes that I really need this also because I'm taking methotrexate. Second, a Gluten Free diet seems very helpful for the inflammation when I'm consistent. Another thing I have tried for the inflammation is natural remedies like ground flax (2 tblsp, one in the morning and the other in the afternoon) and a fruit oil(Sea Buckthorn fruit oil), it's a strange name but a really helpful oil; I take 1 tsp daily. I read that this oil is known more in Asia and Europe and used as treatment for RA and that it can aid the body in fixing the cells that get damage (specifically by the inflammation in RA patients). Sea Buckthorn is thought to have the added bonus of helping to reduce/manage inflammation.

Also taking natural food that is rich in calcium (e.g. Quinoa, almonds , soya) while trying to stay clear of dairy which is another food source thought to trigger inflammation.

I hope these tips can help you, they have been helping me even though the doctors told me that I can eat anything I want because that is not an issue for my inflammation and that natural medicine/remedies (i.e. diet) won't really help. But in the process of all this I still had trust and hope in the best doctor of all that I know and with the natural remedies (that he made himself) he is helping me very much.

After all this disease has been helping me with more discipline in my diet (in eating better overall) and also learning more about natural remedies and having more compassion for others.. As with any/all natural remedies (dietary changes) it will take time to see the benefits; give it at least a month or two before expecting to see noticeable results.

Hi Pochaka, Yes, I changed my diet and it does help. I'm juicing which I have noticed a huge difference in my flare ups. As I said before only we know our bodies better than anyone. Keep researching and looking for foods, spices fruits,vegetables, herbs, and gluten free products that help reduce inflammation and boost the immune system.
