Adopting a Cat

Are cats helpful to people with schizophrenia? I would like to adopt a quiet, calm cat next year. I had one once not long ago and became attached to her, but had to give her up because she was do destructive. If I could find a more suitable one, I am prepared to take care of one for the life of the cat.

The nature of cats is too claw and climb and kill things like mice. Their nature is to be destructive. I've had 8 cats and a dog. I've had my couches totally destroyed and have had crystal broken and photographs chewed-up, etc.
