schizophrenic married couple

Does anyone have advice on how to deal with an in-law who is schizophrenic and whose husband is also?

At a family gathering last weekend her/his illness became evident to me. Both of them worked together to manipulate and (emotionally) hurt family members who had come for the baptism of their 6-month old son. It's not the first time they've done something like this. They threatened to physically hurt everyone with a "nasty surprise." She has been in talk therapy for 1.5 years but has not been on medication since becoming pregnant/nursing. She's been hospitalized 3 times due to the illness but in the past had had long periods of recovery.

Due to the weekend's events her family has decided to cut off all contact for the sake of their health. (Her father had a heart attack 2 weeks ago and has other physical health problems.)

If you can recommend any resources for the family, further course of action, etc., I'd greatly appreciate it.

If someone's behavior is so unbearable, I understand contact with them being cut off.
