Schizophrenia meds (alt to Abilify)
Anon_124839 posted:
Hi, my doctor has had me on Abilify for the past year. I have no side effects, but I find that some of my problems are coming back.

If you use an alternative to Abilify, please post what it is and the dosage. Thanks for your help!!

It sounds like your psychiatrist would be the best one to ask about alternatives to abilify.

Tell your doctor about the return of symptoms. That has happened to me several times over the years and the doctor was good about trying other meds and doses. I had different psychiatrists too because I moved and they all were helpful with this.

I have found that many different meds, and combos of meds work, but only for the short term. A couple of months at most. I have yet to find the lasting drug that keeps me symptom free. I: agree, you definitely need to keep your doctor informed He/She is your best resource.

Good luck!

I used Abilify for a few months but I had too much anxiety from it. I switched to zyprexa and still had anxiety issues. I switched to clozaril and could not tolerate it all. Seroquel did not work well for me. Finally I ended up on Saphris 10mg 2X daily which is working very well for me. Saphris is sort of new on the market but it is getting more and more attention because the side effect profile is really better than the others. The only problem is the cost of Saphrs, about $732 pre month for 60 tablets.

I started out with schizoaffective disorder but I got upgraded to paranoid schizophrenia later on!
