    The message board you're used to will be closing in the coming weeks. While many of your boards will be making the move to our new home, your posts will not. Want to keep a discussion going? Save posts you want to continue (this includes your member profile story), so that you can re-post them in the new message boards.

    It's been suggested that we leave a space between the start of a post and the triggering part.

    Write something innocuous in the first line. then leave some spaces between in and the subject matter. this should take care of accidentally triggering someone.

    I've struggled with cutting for a while, and I was looking for healthy alternatives when it got to the point where I couldn't remember half of the cuts that were on my arms. I found one that really does work, but you need to have the time to do it, and the dedication to try it.


    Meditating.


    Sounds basic right? Well it is, but I tend to do it Raven (Teen Titans) style. If you've seen Teen Titans, then you know that Raven has a saying while she meditates. That saying being "Azarath metrion zinthos."
    When it's summer and it's warm, but not too warm, with a cool breeze, I sit in the shade, close my eyes, block everything out, and start saying Raven's meditation quote throughout meditation.
    When I do this, I make sure there's a cool breeze with warm weather because, to me, it gives the effect of relaxation and weightlessness. So when I meditate and really get into it, I can almost feel myself floating. Sounds cliche, I know, but that's how I feel.
    Either way, I've had one of my friends who also cuts do that, and they said that they felt the same thing, and they felt really good about themself afterwards.
    I completely recommend anyone who struggles with self harm to do this when they get the urge.
    It helps to have a calming song (instrumental piano, accoustic guitar, or harp recommended) in the background on a low level.
    If not insturmental, I suggest having 'Angeles' by Jensen Ackles.
