Just curious.. at Dr's today I have now gained 5 pounds total since becoming pregnant. I asked the nurse assistant and she wasn't too incouraging. Basically said I "should be careful" because right now "its not the baby- its me".

DF has said all along that I have to look at weight gain as the baby is healthy and I totally agree, but just a little concerned in that I don't want to gain more weight then is needed.

Im 16weeks today, this is my first pregancy and I have gained 5 pounds.

What do you ladies think? Are you happy with the weight or if this is your 2nd or subsequent pregnancy do you have any advice?

Thanks in advance

for some reason, I put on about 5 pounds or so, back in the 11th- 13th week, when I was eating everything in sight.
After that, my craving/ starvation went down, I got the energy to get on the treadmill and stuff, and now I've lost about 1-2 pounds (not trying to lose, just happened naturally)

Jenny - I really wouldn't worry about the weight gain, after all we are supposed to be eating well. As long as you are eating healthy and keeping healthy, unless the Doctor explicitly says to curb it, I wouldn't worry. Like you said, it just means the baby is healthy!

Good luck!!!

- Annie, due Sept 21st

Every book i has read so far says 5-10 lbs by 16 weeks so it looks like you are perfect. Your boobs are probably a lot of that weight and our blood amount has increased. Its not all fat so dont get discouraged.

I am 15 weeks today and I have gained 10 lbs. I stopped running when I found out (found out at 11 dpo) and gained 8 lbs just like that - nice. I have gained 2 since then. I am not terribly worried about it, but my thighs are starting to thicken up and that bothers me. I am 5'6 and started out on the thin side about 5 lbs away from being underweight so I dont feel too bad. My stomach is getting a bit rounder but I dont really knw what constiutes 'popping'. We havent told anyone yet because of past difficulties so I am hoping I can get by for one more week. I am sure people look at me and think, wow she getting a little pudgy.

That did seem a little rude to do. According to my 16 wk weigh in, I gained 6 lbs and the nurse smiled and said that was good. So... don't worry about it as long as you're eating healthy
