Painful bumps on the vagina

Back in November I was concerned about my sexual health so I got a full STI test including HIV test. I tested positive for chlamydia and received immediate treatment with pills.

Since that time I have had 1 sexual partner. In his sexual history he has tested negative for everything but has gotten cold sores on his mouth 1 or 2 times a year since childhood.

5 days ago I started feeling quite sick and started feeling pain while urinating. 3 days ago, two painful red bumps appeared on the mouth of my vagina. The same day I decided to visit a doctor. She couldn't really see where the bumps were but said they were probably sebaceous cysts. She also took a urine test and there was no indication of a bladder infection. She did, however, discover that I have strep throat and she prescribed antibiotics. About my vagina I was instructed to take a saltwater bath, which I did.

Within the last 2 days, three more painful bumps/lumps have appeared around the mouth of my vagina and on the labia. The original bumps have not changed.

What is going on! From my internet readings it sounds like some type of genital herpes. Is it possible my partner's cold sores have transferred to my genitals? Or is it possible herpes has been dormant for a long time so my my STI check in November would not have caught it? Or is it possible to get a few sebaceous cysts at once as my doctor seems to think?

It is possible to transmit HSV (the herpes virus) during oral sex (i.e., your partner who appears to have this to you during his providing oral sex to you).

Sebaceous cysts tend to appear from irritated hair follicles. It would be unusual that you would get so many at one time.
