Seriously? You'd wear something that makes one resemble Hannibal Lector (but in pink)?

The video provides inaccurate information regarding the risk of oral cancer from HPV. HPV does not cause 64% of oral cancers. A far, far greater risk factor is the use of tobacco products and tobacco products coupled with significant alcohol use.

Have to say that I'm a bit disappointed with your post. Who cares what you look like if you are protecting yourself. You dont put on a condom and do a fashion show. People are using cut up condoms for oral sex protection... Thats not cool either. But to the serious allegation of inaccurate information. Here is an extract from a BMJ (British Medical Journal) editorial verbatim . If you want to take an issue with them there is a process for that.

HPV related oropharyngeal carcinoma has also been reported in 60-80% of recent biopsy samples in studies conducted in the US, compared with 40% in the previous decade.

I agree that smoking and alcohol are risks factors but the information was not inaccurate as you suggested.

Red the article again. It refers to ONE type of oropharyngeal cancer (oseophageal squamous cell carcinoma) not all types.

In any case, this is the kind of thing that can be greatly reduced by effective vaccination.

Another thing, this gadget would only protect people giving cunnilingus. If the woman receiving is up-to-date with her pap smears there should be little risk for the giver anyway.

Also, this is a completely useless item for fellatio. So you will only be protecting half of a couple who probably are both giving oral... Presumably HPV cells can be transmitted via deep kissing too so what would be the point in this ... thing?

Note that the incidence (in the US) of oralpharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma has shown an increase from 1.53 cases per 100,000 to 1.87 cases per 100,000 between 1999 and 2006 (data from the study you quoted).

As with HPV found genitally, the virus is far more common than the incidence of cancer development in those who carry this.
