Is ejaculation important to maintain a man's health?

buck2ky posted:
Is there any health risk for a man not having ejaculations? If a male is celebate for years and does not have regular ejaculations, is there a concern for prostate health or any other physical health concerns, i.e. is there an increased risk of prostate cancer? Or any other physical issues associated with not having ejaculations?
Odd, I know, but I would really like a professional response to this question. Thanks.

Several studies show an increased risk for prostrate cancer in men who have fewer than 3 ejaculations per week. Some other studies oppose these, but we know when body parts are not used health issues for those parts usually follow. Also as milesman replied, emotional health issues (esp. depression) are common and can lead to physical health issues.

I have chronic prostatitis. I get physically uncomfortable if I go more than about a week without ejaculating. The condition known as "blue balls" really is real: it is a temporary inflaming of the prostate (which is what prostatitis is, but not temporary, of course), and it can be quite uncomfortable. My urologists advises 3-5 ejaculations per week for optimal prostate health.

Unfortunately, my wife is happy with 3 times a month, so I'm on my own fro the rest.

I consider myself healthy -- mentally, physically, and sexually. My mood, mental alertness and physical well-being, have always alerted me as to when I want (or need) sex, and ejaculation is certainly a major event therein. Four to six times a week was the number years ago, (four children) but two to four times a week seems to be the number for me at my age ... 77.

I, myself, have suffered from chronic prostatitis. My dr asked if anything helped. I told him the only thing that helped was masturbation. He said he wasn't surprised. It's a good stress relief. I used to get epiditimitis(sp). My scrotum would swell & I was told I would need to ejaculate to relieve the pressure.

According to my Urologist, it is necessary for maintaining good physical and mental health. He says if your girlfriend does not work use your hand friend. And it does not necessarily have to be lamp pole but can also happen with mush.

I'm 80 and haven't had intercourse with my wife for several years because of her medical problems. I must depend on her hand and mine but I have found it increasingly difficult to achieve orgasm and ejaculation unless I look at Internet porn; however, I would prefer not to do that. Cialis helped to provide more and better erections but the orgasm problem remains. Any suggestions?

I'm in a similar situation (74). The difference being, my wife doesn't help me at all. I can manage an orgasm about every 2 to 3 weeks on my own or 3 to 4 times a week with online porn. I, also, do not like to use porn, but I also desire to have the orgasm. It's quite a problem.Cialis and Viagra doesn't help at all, in my case.

Hey, consider yourself lucky. I measure the frequencies as 'how many times per decade.' I am 94 now. Go ahead and despair; your time will come!

Queston, I suffer from CP, also. In addition to ejaculating on a regular schedule, as you stated, my Urologist also gives me prostate massages quite frequently. He states that massage cleans the fluid out of the prostate more thoroughly than just a regular ejaculation because pressure is placed on the prostate forcing out the fluid. In some circles, this is called "milking." I hope this helps!!

Just noticed this post, I get the same advice from my doctor. In my case, I have a large (not enlarged, but large) prostate, have had all my life. The result has been particularly large volume ejaculations and the necessity to have them often. I first went to the doctor ten years ago with chronic prostatitis. Everything checks out fine, PSA levels are in range, but my doc says an ejaculation every other day is a requirement to avoid real problems down the road.

One of the problems I face is that the volume of semen is such that my orgasms don't last long enough to expel it all. In order to empty completely, I need to ejaculate, wait until I can get another erection, and do it again. Forrtunately our sex life is good and my wife is happy to assist, but it still requires alot of masturbation to stay comfortable. I can "purge" using a prostate toy anally, without orgasm, if necessary, but that's more a last resort - I like taking care of this problem the fun way.

For me, I can tell I need to "empty" when it starts feelinjg like I'm carrying a tennis ball around between my legs. If I wait much past that, prostatitis sets in and that's painful as can be.

When your urologist gives you a prostate massage, is it painful when he does that or does it feel pretty good? Do you then ejaculate as well?

The reason I ask is when I went to my family doctor for a physical, he checked my prostate and I don't know if he did a little extra massaging, but I had an orgasm.

At first I tried to hold it back, but as he was feeling around and checking my prostate, I got to the point of no return and decided what the heck, I'm sure he has had this happen before and just let it flow. I just asked for a couple of tissues and wiped up.

So just wondered if you had an orgasm or not. How long does he do the massage for?

You go Boy!
I was glad to hear your ... status. I think there is an intense spike at adolescence. I remember, back then, it was almost like hot oil that had to escape somehow. I was somewhat more religious, back then; but, holy cow -- ya gots ta do what ya gots ta do, sometimes.

I it seems that, women, once they loose that final egg, or ovum is what I believe we humans call them ... them little doggies no longer go into "heat". Now, we prefer not to think of ourselves along those terms -- but we's all dem mammals.
But for men, it seems that after that summit, it's just a gentle glide on the other side.

So, I find myself in a similar situation, once again -- with just as much, or more, concerned things like: "staying on my own playground", not messing up God's healthy design, impregnation, not to mention all dem new germies!

I commend you for your honesty, Sir. I'm just a little bit above you in frequency, and a little bit behind ya at 58. "Rock and roll, hoochy cooch", as says the song, eh?

Same, same here. Not exactly sure why, but we men are programmed to operate via visual stimulation. When I started slowing down a bit, taking a peek at what was going on down between my wife and I -- made a big difference! It kept us both from wearing out! It seems once you get past a certain time limit, she's had her fun first -- with us tryin' to "hold-out for dear wife" things start drying out, and she's like ... "Are we there yet?" -- then, poof, "The thrill is gone" (like that '60's song said -- it just aint hapenin'.

When the wife started running out of whatever hormones motivated her; I spent some time thinking about the whole ethical, religious aspects -- mainly regarding the visual aspects. Then I kind of laid that aside and tried to see.the whole ball of wax.

Maybe this is crazy, but I kinda think of those girls as modern- day concubines! I don't waste a lot of time "fiddling around" I, NEVER pay for any "on-line visual encouragement". I feel pretty sure they get a "decent wage", I get the job done -- much more efficiently, reep the physical, psychological/neurological brain-chemical benefits, and am on my way...it's just a beneficial, win-win, business-mechanical deal that needs to be quickly addressed, and I'm on my way.

When ya think of it, it is a very efficient and cost-effective deal! Heck, it's a lot less time-consuming than the ol' 20th cent. ways, and, if ya know how to win at the electronic game of cards -- it's a couple of pennies for electricity (and maybe a buck or two for some kind of go-juice -- which you were probably using anyway, with her!

The free, downloadable, on-line "fishing-lures" -- coupled with what Paul Simon refers to as his "Sweet little 'magination"...gets ya in and out of that pit-stop in no time at all.

But then, take me with a grain of salt. I have a fairly high IQ, but also have a fairly strong case of ADHD -- lots of stress to releave -- and have a hard time thinking INSIDE the box.
