Hi,

I need help from you experts here. I had unprotected oral sex with a gal whose status I am not sure of. After that, I had some kind of Urinary Tract Infection for which I was treated with heavy dosage of Antibiotics....This thing keeps bugging me day in day out that I might have been exposed to HIV virus through that encounter and so I got the HIV RT DNA test done from Labcorp done @ 66 days post exposure, results came out negative, then Oralsure Oral Antibody tests done @ 62 days, 84 and 94 days. All of them came out negative.

I was reading some articles about Antiretroviral drugs and how they inhibit the growth of the HIV Antibodies within a person and he/she can test positive after 3 months of prescribed window period. I was on high dosage of antibiotics like flagyl, azithromycin during the window period.

I am too worried about this now as I really don't want to tested again. This is a very painful thing psychologically and I really an expert opinion on this one ?? Pls Pls Pls help...

I am clean here and should stop worrying about this anymore ??

No they cannot. Antibiotics are for bacteria, not virus'. Receiving oral is such a low risk for HIV, it's not worth considering. The only way you could have, and this is a slim chance of this happening, would be if you had an open and actively bleeding sore/cut on your penis and she has an open and active bleeding cut in her mouth at the time of the oral. Some how I don't believe that to the case, as I'm sure you would have noticed the blood.

You were not on antiretroviral medications during this time period.

You were on antibiotics. They would have no impact on the accuracy of an HIV screening test.

As already has been mentioned, the risk of HIV transmission from oral sex is extremely low. Think along the lines of .5 to 1 per 10,000 exposures with a source KNOWN to carry the virus. Your risk would be even lower.

No further testing is needed. You are HIV negative.
