Hello. I just found out I have HSV2 a month ago. My last partner kknew he had it and never said anything to me or took any precaution not to spread the infection. I'm frustrated with myself for not protecting myself from this and I'm very angry with him for not disclosing vital information. He also tried to turn things around on me and had the audacity to accuse me of cheating and stated, "you better not had given me anything!" What an a**! I am now in a new relationship and we just had "the talk" yesterday. He is still very quiet about it and I'm not sure where things will lead now. He says it doesn't change how he looks at or feels about me, but I can't help but think that he will eventually seed someone that is not positive. I'm still upset with how this changes my sex life as I am a very sexual person. Also, I'm very interested in possible suppressive therapy because I never want another outbreak. It was horrible! I've been researching diet and living with information as much as possible. I'm looking to you all for help, motivation, information and support during this time. As I learn more, I am more than willing to be a resource for others just learning about it and adjusting to living a life just a bit differently. Thank you in advance

You already have a healthy view of HSV 2. You got over the creep that gave it to you and your sex life can go on. You did the responsible thing and told your new partner and now it is up to him. If he cares for you he will be there for you and love you. Get on with life now that you have told him and go out on the town and do something that will take his mind off of HSV 2 and let him see who you really are and that you are worth loving. If he does not turn out to be the one then remember that there will be someone for you who will love you unconditionally. Your love life is not over and I due recommend that you get on suppressive therapy to keep the ob's to a minimum and so that you will decrease the risk of transmitting it to someone else. Go back pages and pages and pages and read any post on HSV genitally and you will see that there are lots of people who live laugh and are still sexually active even with HSV 2. God Bless you.

Thank you abe648. I am having problems with my gyn getting on board with me and prescribing the suppressive therapy. The say I have to have 9 OB's in a year before I can get a daily dosage. This is ridiculous! I'm so disappointed with his lack of concern. I made an appointment to speak with my original gyn and hopefully I'll get better results with her. If I'm met with opposition again, do you have any advice for getting the script? They did give me a script for a second round of Valtrex for 5 days to combat a possible second OB. I did purchase Terri Warren's book on my Nook and it has been quite a source of information. I am so happy to have found both this forum and Terri's book. I feel things are starting to come together. I just have to get past the initial rejection for suppressive therapy.

Just find a Doc who knows their stuff and know that you can use suppressive therapy once you have an ob and you know you have HSV. . Do you have HsV 1 or 2?

Since you have HSV 2 that should not be a big problem but if you continue to have a problem all I can recommend is that you look for a Doc who knows that suppressive therapy is the norm. I would recomend that you googole on Yahoo "herpes support groups" and see if there is one in your area and perhaps they can help you find the Doc that you need to get the R/x.

Get the lip swabbed/cultured to and typed to see if it is HSV 1 or something
